Reese Trailer Hitches- Making Loads Towing Easy

No matters which kind of car you own, a trailer hitch is a fundamental part that is needed to tow loads. It is really important that you have installed a trailer hitch correctly on your vehicle so that you can tow heavy as well as low loads without any trouble. Some easy steps that can help you install your Reese hitch are given below but before installing be sure that you are having all the accessories like a torque wrench, 2 wheel chocks, a socket set, an automotive ramp and safety goggles etc. Steps for easy installation are:

  • Make sure you have parked your car on an even surface that is necessary for safe installation. 
  • Keep the emergency brakes set in advance. 
  • Chock the front wheels for better safety. Wear protective goggles in order to stay protected from dirty and rust flakes while working under the vehicle.
  • Check the possibility of accessing hitch mounting holes and lower the spare tire accordingly. You can even go through the detailed description for lowering your tire.
  •   Open up all the mounting hardware that comprises the bolts with threaded ends to retain hitch. These should be installed beneath the rear frames of the vehicle. If your vehicle does not have holes for mounting trailer hitches, get it drilled by a professional only. Make sure that the ends of bolts are protruding towards left via frame rails. 
  • Place the washers and nuts over the bolt ends and tighten them up finger tight.
  • Tighten up all the bolts and nuts as prescribed in order to avoid damage to the wiring harness to your vehicle.
  • Raise back the spare tire underneath your vehicle. Carry this step whether it is mentioned on not.


Follow the above mentioned steps and you will find installing the hitches a really easy job to carry and make your vehicle to tow any sort of load.
